French Programs

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) offers French as a Second Language (FSL) options of Core French, Extended French and French Immersion for students who are interested in increasing their confidence and proficiency in the French language.

Learning another language provides significant cognitive and academic benefits, where students inspire and motivate each other to become life-long language learners and active world citizens.

Core French is compulsory in Grade 9 and offered to Grade 12

Certification

Certificate of Achievement in Core French

Certificate of Bilingual Studies in Extended French

Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion

Students enrolled in a Grade 12 FSL course are eligible to participate in the Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF), an internationally recognized test of French proficiency for candidates whose first language is not French.
