It's not every day that a Commendation Certificate is awarded by the Canadian Armed Forces. This recognition was given to Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board by Brigadier-General D.B. Cochrane, Commander, National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group.
Lieutenant-Colonel Barry Leonard, Commanding Officer of the Regional Cadet Support Unit travelled from Base Borden to present Director of Education Sean Monteith with the certificate at CFB Trenton.
"It is truly an honour to receive this Commendation Certificate. Being a Cadet helps youth develop citizenship and leadership skills, and be active in their communities. Partnerships like this mean so much because they help to keep kids engaged in school. We truly value the long-standing relationship with the Trenton Cadet Training Centre." -Sean Monteith, Director of Education.
The certificate reads as follows:
"For over 35 years, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has demonstrated professionalism, community spirit, and inter-organizational friendship with the Canadian Cadets Organizations. This outstanding support and cooperation has allowed countless local cadet unit activities to be conducted within Southeastern Ontario and at the Trenton Cadet Training Centre. The Board's continued and distinguished support of Canadian Youth is sincerely appreciated by both the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Central) and the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group."
