Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is pleased to advise that the new Stirling Public School building is ready for occupancy.
In order to prepare the school for students, it is important for families to know that on Thursday, October 10 there will be no classroom instruction. All Stirling schools will be closed to students that day. Families will need to make childcare arrangements for October 10.
The first instructional day at the new school will be Tuesday, October 15, 2o13, after the Thanksgiving weekend. A plan for transitioning into the new school has been developed. Please refer to the dates below for complete details. A letter outlining this plan for families will be going home with students this afternoon (PDF link).

Transition of Students into the New Stirling Public School
Wednesday, October 2 |
All Stirling Public School staff will be invited to tour the new school at the end of the instructional day. |
Thursday, October 3 |
School council members and the school board trustee will be invited to tour the school. |
Monday, October 7 and
Tuesday, October 8 |
Transition tours of the new school. All students will go to the new school, accompanied by their teacher and supervised by Principal Suzanne Cholasta, to see their classrooms and the yards, and become familiar with the school layout. |
Thursday, October 10 |
Packing and moving is underway and classroom set-up at the new school begins. On Thursday, October 10 there will be no classroom instruction. All Stirling schools will be closed to students that day. Families will need to make childcare arrangements for October 10. |
Friday, October 11
PA Day |
School staff will unpack and set-up classrooms. Students will not be at school due to the Professional Activity Day. |
Tuesday, October 15 |
The first day of school for all students and staff at the new Stirling Public School, 107 St. James Street, Stirling. Bell times will remain the same: yard supervision begins at 9:10 a.m.; 9:20 a.m. school start time; 3:40 p.m. dismissal. |
The new building will accommodate approximately 700 students. It was fully-funded through a $10,2 million grant by the Ministry of Education.
