Each year on October 5 the teaching profession is celebrated around the world through World Teachers' Day. This day of recognition began in 1994 through UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
At Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, we are fortunate to have knowledgeable, dedicated and caring teaching staff throughout our organization who make a real difference in students' lives every day. Their professionalism and commitment to student achievement and well-being are valued and appreciated.
Nationally, the Canadian Teachers' Federation is celebrating World Teachers' Day through a public awareness campaign that highlights the contributions of the teaching profession. The national slogan is Teachers: Pillars of democracy.
Please join in recognizing World Teachers' Day on Saturday, October 5, 2013.
