M.P. Daryl Kramp to visit Stirling Public School
Students at Stirling Public School are looking forward to a visit by the local federal government representative.
The Honourable Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward-Hastings, will visit Stirling Public School on Friday, November 29, 2013, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and meet with students in the Learning Commons.
The visit is linked to the Social Studies curriculum, specifically Aspects of Citizenship and Government in Canada for Grade 5 students. During the visit, students will engage with Kramp about issues that matter to them, while learning about the role of Canada's federal parliamentarians.
This event is connected to National Child Day which was celebrated throughout Canada on November 20. To mark this special occasion, UNICEF Canada organized its annual Bring your MP to School Day, connecting Members of Parliament with approximately 80 schools across the country. Stirling Public School was chosen as one of those schools!
The students will discuss a variety of topics, embracing the theme of "It's our time to be heard." For many students, this visit will be their first experience with a parliamentarian and their first opportunity to influence government decisions that affect them. It will be an inspiring exchange for both the students and the M.P.!
