$238,500 in scholarships offered to Moira SS International Baccalaureate students
Students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme at Moira Secondary School who are set to graduate in June 2015 are showing promising futures. They have been offered $238,500 in scholarships from several universities and private scholarships.
"This amount of scholarship funding demonstrates university acknowledgement of our IB Diploma students. I expect our total scholarship offerings to increase because many students are still waiting to hear back,"said Cindy Cooper, Teacher and IB Coordinator.
Each graduating student has been offered an average of $11,000 this year to date. Students have been accepted to: Concordia University, Queen's University, University of Toronto, York University, University of Dalhousie, University of Ottawa, McMaster University, McGill University, Quest University, Western University, Carleton University, Guelph University, Ryerson University, Trent University, Laurier University, and University of Windsor.
Programs for which the students have been accepted include the following: Bachelor of Arts Honours or Bachelor of Science Honours: Medical Sciences, Life Sciences, Bio-Med Sciences, Second Language Teaching French, Concurrent Education, Art History in Film Studies, Art History, Social Work, Media Information and Technology, Business Management, Theatre and Drama Studies, Engineering Science, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, Biochemistry, Bachelor of Arts and Science, Environmental Studies in French, and Forensic Science.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is growing at Moira SS, as evidenced by the increase in the number of students:
- Graduating class of 21 students for 2015
- On-track for a graduating class of 24 students for 2016
- On-track for a graduating class of 31 students for 2017
