The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is inviting school and community representation on the QSS Revitalization Ad Hoc Committee. This is part of a project to repurpose the former Quinte Secondary School (Pdf) to become a K-8 French Immersion school and become the location of administrative/maintenance offices.
The committee will consider opportunities that arise to address school capacity and enrolment challenges at the following schools: Bayside Public School, Bayside Secondary School, Harmony Public School, Harry J. Clarke Public School and Prince Charles School (Trenton). The committee will develop a recommendation to be presented to the Board of Trustees based on the proposed value of the revitalization project to students, families, community, staff and the Board of Trustees.
The 15-person membership of the committee will consist of:
- 4 trustees, including one student trustee
- 2 school staff (one classroom teacher, one education support staff member)
- 1 union representative
- 1 adult/alternative education staff member
- 3 parents of students attending French Immersion programming
- 2 community members
- 2 HPEDSB senior staff members
The QSS Revitalization Ad Hoc Committee will provide regular updates to the Committee of the Whole, and will also provide a final report, including recommendations and conclusions, at the public Board meeting in June 2021.
If you are interested in applying to participate in the QSS Revitalization Ad Hoc Committee, please complete the brief application by Monday, February 22 at 4 PM. Applicants will be notified by email if they are selected to be on the committee.
