Hello Families and Students:
Yesterday the Government of Ontario announced plans for the return to school next week. Students will return to school on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at in-person and virtual schools. This will allow time for school boards, including HPEDSB, to prepare for new COVID-19 public health measures, including the following:
- receiving the updated COVID-19 school and child care screener from public health;
- providing high-quality three-ply cloth masks to students free of charge; and
- pausing high contact indoor sports and some extra-curricular activities.
According to the government announcement, child care centres in schools can continue to operate, although parents should connect directly with the operator to confirm.
Rapid antigen test kits were sent home with students prior to the winter break. As a reminder, please use one or two tests for students before they return to in-person learning next week. If they receive a positive test result, they should stay home, as per the updated public health requirements.
We know you may have questions that are not answered above. Please know that our teams at HPEDSB are reviewing the announcement and will provide more details as soon as possible. The Return to Learning Plan will be updated in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your understanding.
