May 7, 2018—Students in Grade 7 and 8 are the first to be involved in a StEP UP day of learning. StEP UP stands for Student Empowered Pathways, Unlimited Possibilities.
Date: Friday, May 11, 2018
Time: 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Location: Loyalist College
Students will participate in two workshops, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, taught by Loyalist College instructors. Topics include the following:
- Art & Design Foundations
- Esthetics & Spa Management
- Film & TV Production
- Fitness & Health Promotion
- Justice Studies
- Public Relations
- Radio Broadcasting
- Skilled Trades
StEP UP is an enrichment event for students who have confidence learning in different environments, with new and unknown peers and who have expressed an interest learning more about in post-secondary opportunities.
9:15 – 9:30 a.m.: Welcome and opening remarks
9:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Session 1
12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. Lunch
1:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Session 2
This event is a partnership between HPEDSB and Loyalist College. Students will receive an event T-shirt for being involved.
