Unmasking Mental Health and Substance Use

As part of Mental Health Week, parents and youth ages 10-18 are invited to an event at the Belleville Public library.

Unmasking Mental Health and Substance Use

  • Date: Tuesday, May 7, 2025
  • Time: 5:00–7:30 PM
  • Location: Belleville Public Library, 254 Pinnacle St., Belleville
  • Spots limited – registration required (max 40 parents, 20 youth)

While parents attend their session, youth (ages 10-18) will participate in engaging wellness-based activities.

For parents

Film Screening: Screenagers – Under the Influence (50 minutes). This powerful documentary explores the science behind teen decision-making and the real-world impact of substances like cannabis, alcohol, and vaping.

Keynote: Randell Adjei, Ontario’s First Poet Laureate (45 minutes). Randell will inspire with spoken word and reflections on mental health, resilience, and how we support young people through their struggles.

For youth

Led by the Joe Wedlock, from Youth Gambling Awareness Program (YGAP), the youth space will include hands-on activities (gaming, art, movement, music) all focused on “Healthy Ways to Spend My Time”, plus a chance to win a prize for completing all stations.

Free refreshments will be provided. Registration is limited. Please register here by May 2, 2025.
