October is Cyber Awareness Month. During the month Ontario students will be encouraged to learn about online safety at school. The Education Collaborative Network of Ontario (ECNO), of which HPEDSB is a member, has created educational resources for Cyber Awareness Month. The theme for 2026 is “Think Safe. Share Safe. Stay Safe Together.”
Each week in October is dedicated to a specific topic:
- Week 1: Digital Me (secure habits matter)
- Week 2: Digital Us (respect and protect others)
- Week 3: Digital Families (healthy digital habits)
- Week 4: Digital Minds (smart and responsible AI use)
Parents and caregivers can continue these important conversations with their children at home. The Ontario Ministry of Education has provided a tip sheet, Online safety: Keeping your children safe, to help start conversations with your child about online safety.
