Each year, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board gathers input from internal and external community members about dates for the school year calendar.
We invite you to provide input on the four proposed options by responding to this short survey, which closes February 9, 2026 at 4:00 PM.
A summary of the dates is below.
PLEASE NOTE: 2026 presents unique challenges because Labour Day is late, on September 7, and Easter is four days after Spring Break. The Ministry of Education requires the school year to have 194 days. Given the late Labour Day, there are not 194 school days between Tuesday, September 8, 2026 and Friday, June 25, 2027.
Due to the timing of statutory holidays, and requirements for the number of instructional and PA Days, HPEDSB is considering alternatives for the 2026-2027 school year dates. This is to ensure the school year has the required 194 instructional days and two semesters each with 97 days.
