Information Night

The Student Leadership class is a specialized program offered at Queen Elizabeth School that offers students in Grade 7 and 8 the opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills through inquiry based learning. This class challenges students to develop their leadership skills on a school community and global platforms. Students will also enhance their skills and knowledge by participating in a variety of workshops and certificate programs.

Registrations are due to the host school by Friday, February 26, 2021.

Information Night

The Destinations class is for Grade 7 and 8 students who are innately curious and passionate about learning. Through active inquiries, students will explore their role in the world, and further their sense of social justice. They will be given the opportunity to become active and responsible citizens who are internationally minded and technologically savvy. In the Destinations classroom, students inspire and motivate each other to become life-long learners, and proficient digital navigators. Thus the program develops students who take steps to create a better and more peaceful world.

French Immersion

In the HPEDSB elementary French Immersion program, students are taught French as a subject and French serves as the language of instruction in two or more other subjects.

Academic and Applied courses in French Immersion are available in Grades 9 and 10, and university preparation and open courses in Grades 11 and 12.

In the French Immersion program, students accumulate 10 credits in French: four are for French as a Second Language courses; six are for other subjects in which French is the language of instruction. Students who successfully complete their 10 credits receive a French Immersion certificate.

Extended French

The Extended French Program is available at York River Public School to students in grades 5 – 8 who have an interest in extending their learning of French as a second language. Visit our Extended French Program page for more information.

Extended French

The Extended French program is available to students in grades 5 – 8 who have an interest in extending their learning of French as a second language.

French is the language of instruction for a minimum of 25 per cent of the total instructional time at every grade level of the program and provide a minimum of 1260 hours of instruction in French by the end of Grade 8.

The program includes the study of French as a second language and the study of at least one other subject taught in French.

The elementary Extended French program is offered at York River Public School.
