Letter to families from CEO Katherine MacIver, May 2026

Dear HPEDSB Families,

As we move into the final stretch of the school year and the weather begins to warm up, I am writing to reflect on the incredible journey our students have had so far and to ask for your continued partnership as we head toward the finish line.

First and foremost, I want to recognize and celebrate the outstanding efforts of our students. Over the past several months, we have seen remarkable growth, curiosity, and resilience across all our schools in Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. Whether in academics, arts, athletics, or community initiatives, our students have consistently demonstrated a commitment to learning and to supporting one another. We are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished.

At this time of year, it is natural for excitement about the upcoming summer break to build. However, the final weeks of the school year are a critical time for learning. There are still important concepts to master, final projects to complete, and culminating assessments that allow students to showcase what they have learned.

We encourage you to talk with your children about the importance of remaining focused and finishing strong. Consistent attendance, healthy sleep routines, and a dedicated approach to their daily studies will ensure they wrap up this academic year feeling confident and prepared for the next step in their educational journey.

We know that student success is built on a strong foundation of support from home. Thank you for your ongoing partnership, for volunteering your time, and for continually encouraging your children to do their best.

Let’s work together to make these final weeks a positive and productive time for all our learners. I look forward to celebrating their many achievements as we bring a successful school year to a close.

Warmly,

Katherine MacIver
Chief Executive Officer and Director of Education
