The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is developing a new 5-year strategic plan. It will launch in June 2025 and be in effect until mid-2030.
Public consultation has been underway since November 2024 through ThoughtExchange, an online platform to crowdsource ideas.
Using a ThoughtExchange, participants share their ideas (or thoughts) in response to an open-ended question. While participants are asked to identify their role, all ideas are shared anonymously. Once participants have shared their own thoughts, they are asked to rate the thoughts that others have provided on a scale of one to five stars based on how much they agree with the idea or how important they think it is.
Where are we now?
ThoughtExchange took the ideas shared in the surveys and grouped them by theme using artificial intelligence (AI). A summary of each Exchange is shared below. Based on what participants shared, draft mission and vision statements are the following:
Draft new mission for 2025-2030: We educate and empower students with skills for success.
Draft new vision for 2025-2030: Inspiring and innovating for a bright future.
Next steps
On February 26, 2025 education partners will gather in Belleville and Bancroft to refine the priorities for the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.
