Seminar: Making Sense of Math for Moms and Dads

Two schools will be hosting an interactive session about math for parents/guardians.

The learning goal for this event will be how to put the fun back into math at home. Participants will learn skills to enable them to support their children’s mathematical learning at home.

Keynote speaker Dr. Lynda Colgan, Queens University Faculty of Education Associate Professor and Community Outreach Centre Coordinator, will describe what students are doing in math class today and why.

Other topics will include the following:

  • What is ‘problem solving’ in a math class?
  • How can we engage students with math in high school?

A Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grant from the Ministry of Education has made these events and the math support resources possible.
