Congratulations to Carl Pitman and Mary Hall, re-elected to chair and vice-chair of the Board, respectively.
This will be Pitman’s fifth year in the chair role. In his acceptance remarks he thanked trustees for their continued confidence in his leadership.
"Having been a trustee since 1997, I can speak with confidence that Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is a board of character—one that’s made up of people who honestly care about our children’s future, who are respectful and trustworthy, and who keep student achievement at the heart of everything they do," stated Chair of the Board Carl Pitman.
He added, "Tonight we begin a 4-year term of the new Board of Trustees. It’s a time of increased accountability and transparency in education. And it’s an exciting time! As we move into the second decade of the 21st Century, this Board will continue to focus on student achievement. Together we will embrace 21st Century leadership by supporting senior administration and school leaders."
Hall echoed sentiments for the confidence vote.
"We have worked extremely well together in the past. Now we will move ahead with confidence and remain committed to doing the best we can for our students," she remarked.
Both have served on standing, statutory and administrative committees for several years. Both have also been representatives to the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association.
