Math Fair engaged Pinecrest Memorial Elementary students

Math was the hot topic of the day at Pinecrest Memorial Elementary School.

The Grade 7 and 8 students hosted their first Math Fair. Teachers Sherri-Lee Bell and Dean Goodman came up with the ideas last fall. They wanted students to collaboratively answer a math problem, then communicate their thinking with other students of differing grade levels.

The mathematical problems students could choose from were primarily puzzle-based. Students from Grades 2 to 6 were invited to the Math Fair and were engaged as they worked through the puzzles and asked questions of the older students.

The students below were recognized for their outstanding Math projects.

(Pictured L to R:)Hailey Hart, Sherri-Lee Bell (teacher), Kieran Isenor, Summer Morrison, Ayla Lambert , Isaac Cairns, Jordon Stacey, Dean Goodman (teacher) and Chase Eaton.
