Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable summer!

As the 2021-2022 school year comes to an end, I express my gratitude to the students, staff, parents/guardians and community members who helped to make this year a success. While you were never sure what the pandemic might throw your way, you managed the turns and changes with grace and safety. Thank you for adapting and responding throughout this school year.
It was rewarding to witness and take part in the many activities that resumed at schools this spring. For the first time in two years, school activities, field trips, outdoor activities, art celebrations and assemblies happened again. Student smiles were matched by those of staff once the special events we were accustomed to and took for granted returned to our schools.
To our graduates, congratulations on all you accomplished! You have persevered, shifted, demonstrated resilience and succeeded. The last few years of your secondary school learning had challenges which no other generation has experienced. Take what you have learned and apply it to your chosen future. We are proud of you!
I look forward to welcoming students and staff back to school in September. The first day for students is September 6. That week, we will welcome approximately 950 JKs to the HPEDSB family. At secondary school, timetables will return to the regular semester schedule.
From all of us at Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board to you and your family, all the best for a safe and enjoyable summer. See you in September!
