Welcome to Stirling Junior and Primary School

Twinned schools Stirling Primary and Stirling Junior are located one block apart in the village of Stirling and serve approximately 450 students from the surrounding area. The Primary school hosts students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 1. The Junior school hosts students in Grade 2 to 5.

Both schools have gymnasiums, spacious play yards, well-equipped classrooms with computers, access to a computer lab and are wheelchair accessible. A safe learning environment is provided with an emphasis on literacy. Ongoing, open communication between home, school and community encourages parents and the community to take an active partnership in our children’s education. Celebrations of learning are evident in family literacy nights, participation in Art events, festive activities, summer reading program.  Character development activities include respect and responsibility assemblies, active fundraisers such as Skate-a-Thon’s, Hush-a-Thon and Fun Fair.  Stirling Primary/Junior are also proud supporters of Terry Fox Run, Jump Rope for Heart and Christmas Sharing.

Stirling Primary and Junior School provide opportunities to foster success for all students to achieve their personal best in academics, the arts, sports and citizenship.

Stirling Junior Public School students proceed to Stirling Senior Public School for Grades 6 to 8.

The February meeting of the SPJS School Council took place on February 16th.  Some great discussion took place about topics such as community involvement, classroom libraries, how to engage more parents in the school and school council, and more details on offering an ATV Safety Course in March.  In addition, information pertaining to new accessibility legislation that affects our schools, and Safe Schools legislation that took effect at the beginning of February was presented.   Our March meeting promises to be an interesting one as well, and we hope that you will be able to join us for what is bound to be a jam-packed agenda.

School council is a great way to meet other parents, to share concerns and ideas with others, and to help our school continue to be a great place to learn.  We have interesting discussions on topics related to all areas of education, and are always happy to welcome new faces!

Please mark March 22nd on your calendar — the meeting is at 6:30 in the primary building .  We’re looking forward to having a great turnout .  Any parent with a child in our school is welcome to attend.  For further information about the next meeting, please contact the schools. We hope you will join us!

Sign in for Student Safety

altAll doors are locked during school hours.  All parents and visitors to the school are reminded to use the front doors when entering the school at any time.  Also, following board policy, all visitors to the school must sign in at the main office and wear a visitor tag.   This helps all of us to recognize visitors in the school and ensure student safety. As the secretaries are often very busy, please be patient if you ring and the door doesn’t open right away — we do want you to visit.

Choir

altOur SPJS Festival Choirs are practicing again for the Stirling Festival in April.  Students in three different choirs are learning new pieces for the big event.  Stay tuned for further information about their performances in April.
