Students raised $3,078 for a local charity

March 27, 2018—Students at seven elementary schools demonstrated care for their community through a fundraising activity. They participated in school-based dodgeball tournaments and raised money for the Child Bereavement Fund of the Belleville General Hospital Foundation.

The tournaments happened on March 8 and 9, 2018 during Random Acts of Kindness Week. They were connected to a local event called the Butterfly Run which raises funds to support families who have experienced loss during a pregnancy or the loss of a young child. The students raised $3,078 for the cause.

Canteens were set up at some schools, with music and teamwork making for an active, fun day.

Two founding members of the Butterfly Run, Loralee McInroy and Barb Matteucci, were at the Harmony Public School event and spoke with Intermediate students about the importance of the cause.
