April 13, 2018—Elementary school students are preparing to take to the stage for BandFest 2018.
Event details
DATE: Thursday, April 19, 2018
TIME: 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Centennial Secondary School, 160 Palmer Road, Belleville
BandFest 2018 will include live music performed by students, multiple adjudicators, workshops and a formal warm-up room. And new this year—the Quinte Symphony Masterclasses for specific instrument groups.
Each participating elementary band will receive a recording of its performance, a live adjudication, as well as a private workshop with a professional conductor. The bands may be either classroom-based or extracurricular and must include, but are not limited to, woodwind and/or brass instruments.
Background
In April 2016, HPEDSB held its first annual BandFest which hosted over 200 students from nine different bands across the region. This event was a non-competitive board wide festival for elementary school bands. With no trophies, ribbons or ranking systems, it was a chance for students who had practiced since September to perform for, and listen to an audience of their peers.
All parents/families are welcome to attend to see elementary school bands in action!
