1. What is the minimum education required to become a:
- Custodian - high school graduation diploma.
- Office Assistant - One-year college certificate for general office procedures and computer skills.
- Secretary - Two-year college diploma for clerical organization and management skills (ie: Business Administration).
- Library Technician - Two-year college diploma in a related capacity (ie: Library Information Technician)
- Student Supervision Monitor - One-year college certificate for clerical skills
- Educational Assistant - college diploma in a related capacity (ie. Social Service Worker, Developmental
Service Worker, Educational Assistant).
- Child & Youth Counsellor - Three-year college diploma in a related capacity (ie. Child & Youth Counsellor).
2. How do I become an employee with HPEDSB?
When you see an advertisement in your local newspaper or on the Board Web site that is of interest to you, submit a
complete resume package (as per instructions in the recruitment advertisement) to the Human Resources Officer,
Support Staff for review and consideration.
3. When can I expect to see an advertisement recruiting for Educational Assistants and how do I apply?
Student enrolment drives our staffing requirements, therefore, once projected enrolments are confirmed a decision can
be made regarding recruitment. In previous years, advertisements have run during the months of July and/or August.
4. What are the Board’s conditions of employment?
Provision of an acceptable criminal record check which may be obtained from the local detachment of the Ontario
Provincial Police or the city police department for the area in which you reside.
Provision of copies of any relevant qualifications for your confidential personnel file (ie. Secondary School
Graduation Diploma, college diploma or university degree, etc.)
5. Does the Board offer a benefits package?
