Homework and study tips, and employability skills

Homework

Homework has many benefits. It extends learning beyond the school day and supports the development of effective work and study habits for life-long learning. Homework allows students to practice, review and consolidate concepts and skills to become self-reliant, independent learners.

An excellent way for parents/guardians to ensure student success is to establish consistent homework routines.

The following is a guideline for how much time should be spent on homework, on average each day:

arrow Primary grades: 10 - 30 minutes

arrow Junior grades: 30 - 60 minutes

arrow Intermediate grades: 40 - 75 minutes

arrow Secondary grades: varies with the subjects each semester

The Ministry of Education considers homework completion to be the shared responsibility of students, teachers and parents/guardians and an effective way in which parents/guardians can support student learning.
