A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THIS YEARS NEWEST DANCERS!

With the support of QSS Teacher Lesley McGuire

How were the new dances created?

We are proud to showcase our focus on K-12 learning and collaboration. This across grade approach has provided students and teachers across the district a chance to reflect, respond and analyze new dances as well as work to create their own presentations.

Kindergarten and Grade 2 students at S.H. Connor and several students at Tweed Hungerford teamed up with teachers Jodie Hannah and Sarah Eady to create and deliver this year’s Spice up your Life dance.  Students were able to share their creative product and present it to HPEDSB through the Celebration of Dance DVD.  Teachers had students focus on the elements of dance, body, space, time, energy and relationships.

Quinte Secondary students and teacher Lesley McGuire were able to merge the skills students acquired through the ATC101, ATC201, and ATC301 course in order to create and deliver 4 new dances for this year’s Celebration of Dance event.  Students were able to explore elements of dance, performance and production while ensuring their new dances met the needs of the students and teachers that master and perform these dances in our yearly event.  They were able to apply their artistic skills and integrate technologies in order to develop and create their presentations.

If your students would like to share their pictures or videos as they embark on the journey to Celebration of Dance 2012,  students must complete and teachers must submit a 21st Century Learning permission form found below.  Enjoy your dancing journey!
