Extended French is available to students in the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. This program offers

students the opportunity to develop French-language skills in a variety of subject areas. The content is the same as

the regular program but the language of instruction is French. The entry point is at the beginning of September in

Grade 5.

The connection between home and school

Parents play an important role in a child’s development, learning, and academic progress. In fact, success in school

is strongly influenced by activities in the home that help to spark a child’s imagination, intellect and self-esteem. To

promote a positive experience for your child:

• Read and communicate regularly in the first language of the home
• Have your child read to you in both languages
• Show your commitment to the program
• Volunteer in the classroom
