What is the Adventure Class?
The Adventure Class is a multiage, alternative program offered by the Hastings Prince Edward Board of Education.
It runs through the combined efforts of parents, teachers and students. It encourages hand-on education, real life
experience and the development of the whole child.
What is the role of a parent?
The program does not run without the efforts of the parents. Parents can volunteer in the classroom, attend monthly
class meetings, sit on a committee, fund raise, collect resources, set up field trips, help teach a subject area etc. Parents
are directly involved in their child's education.
What is the role of the student?
Students are taught a young age to be independent and responsible for their own learning. They have input into the
types of activities they would like to do in their classroom. They are an important part of the team that makes up the
Adventure Class.
What is the role of the teacher?
It is the teacher's job to provide a stimulating, challenging environment that covers the curriculum set out by the Ontario
Ministry of Education in a meaningful and interesting manner.
