Breakfast doesn't have to be fancy or complicated, just make sure you include something from the Vegetables & Fruit and Milk & Alternatives food groups, plus at leasat one other food group. Here are some simple breakfast items that can be served to busy students on the run:
Vegetables & Fruit
- Fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, apples, pears, etc.)
- Fruit cups
- Apple sauce/fruit sauce cups
- 100% fruit cartons
- boxes of raisins or other dried fruit
Grain Products
- Baggies of cereal
- Cereal bars (e.g. Kellogg's Nutri-Grain)
- Whole grain muffins (e.g. Kirk Catering)
Milk & Alternatives
- Cartons of Milk
- Yogurt Cups
- Yogurt Tubes
- Cheese Strings
Meat & Alternatives
- Hard Boiled Eggs
- Trail mix with nuts and seeds (be allergy aware)
