Students volunteer to make sandbags for flooded Foxboro area

14 April 2008, Belleville, ON—Students of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board are demonstrating caring and cooperation for the local community. Today, five schools sent classes of students to help bag sand for residents in the flooded area in Thurlow Township (Foxboro area). The five schools include the following:

  • Bayside Secondary School
  • Centennial Secondary School
  • Centre Hastings Secondary School
  • Harmony Public School
  • Trenton High School

Because of the students’ involvement, the productivity was at a high level never seen before. As of today, approximately 40,000 bags of sand are stockpiled. However, it is anticipated that more will be needed once the Moira River peaks on Wednesday.
