Three more schools win website award
Students, staff and parents already think the
sites are great. Three school websites, Madoc Public School, Harmony Public
School, and Madoc Township Public School have each received a $600 award
through Canada's SchoolNet Grassroots Program. The site for the Tweed schools,
Tweed-Hungerford and S.H. Connor, won this same award last month.
These sites were recognized as being among the top school websites
in Canada by the Grassroots School Website Pilot Project Evaluation Committee.
The evaluation committee offered congratulations to the teachers, students
and community members who collaborated in building websites that showcase
their school and reflect their community.
Computer and Science Resource Teacher, Bill
Lundy, is the webmaster of the Madoc Public School website and supports
the use of computers and technology at the school. The Madoc Public School
website is located at www.hpedsb.on.ca/madps/.
The evaluation review complimented the design of the site and encouraged
further student involvement in the website in the future.
At Harmony Public School, There's a whole
team of web designers, including three students, two staff members and
a volunteer from the community. The evaluation committee commented that
it was a very nice site and encouraged more student projects to be posted
on the site. Harmony's website is at www.hpedsb.on.ca/harm.
Madoc Township Public School has their website
at www.hpedsb.on.ca/madtwp/.
Teacher, Steve Badgley is the webmaster there. Students at Madoc Township
Public School have been very involved in the creation of their website
- from planning and research to the design, implementation and maintenance
of the site.
The Tweed Schools site at www.hpedsb.on.ca/tweed/,
was awarded funding by the Grassroots Program in May of this year.
At each of these schools, technology is a
part of learning for students.
