19 October 2007, Belleville, ON—Park Dale School students are doing their part for the environment! The school's EarthCARE sorted and packaged energy-efficient light bulbs for distribution to families in Belleville-area schools.
The City of Belleville approached Park Dale Public School’s EarthCARE team to assist with
its newly formed Green Team on an initiative called Project Porchlight. The initiative is a
community-based social marketing campaign organized by One Change, an Ottawa-based
non-profit group that advocates community engagement and environmental sustainability. One
Change requested communication and action at the community level. The HPEDSB school-based EarthCARE teams are a natural link to the community.
The City of Belleville Green Team provided EarthCARE teams in Belleville schools with 3,000
light bulbs to distribute throughout school communities.
To get more exposure, the Green Team organized a photo opportunity on October 27, 2007. School community families received a letter describing the initiative in advance of the light bulbs being made available.
