Parenting my teenager: Is this the way it’s supposed to be?
25 February 2008, Belleville, ON—There are no simple answers to the kinds of questions that parents have as they live through the teenage years. How can I help my child stay in school? Why does my child miss classes? What can I do to help my child be successful in school? These are just a few of the questions many parents have when it comes to their teenage children.
To address these concerns, the Centre Hastings Secondary School school council is hosting Kathleen Gould Lundy, an educator, author and parent of two children. Lundy has more than 30 years of experience in education and in working with special needs children. Through stories, humour and personal anecdotes, Lundy will share her ideas about how to encourage kids to stay in school when they don’t want to be there. Her seminars help parents/guardians and teachers to see that those who work with young adolescents need to focus on maintaining high expectations, while providing support in appropriate ways.
