12 May 2008, Belleville, ON—The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is accepting nominations for the 7th Annual Great Place Awards. This prestigious awards program recognizes outstanding contributions that support student achievement throughout the district.

Nominations are accepted from and for HPEDSB employees, students, parents/guardians and community members. The deadline is Friday, May 23, 2008. Guidelines and nomination forms are available online.

Awards will be presented at the public Board meeting on Monday, June 16, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., at the Education Centre, 156 Ann Street, Belleville. Award winners and nominators will be notified in advance.

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board serves approximately 17,100 students each day at 46 elementary and
8 secondary schools. Supporting student achievement is the goal of approximately 1,800 teaching and support staff who, in addition to the contributions of caring volunteers and community partners, share their passion for teaching and learning. The district covers a wide geographical area of 7,221 square kilometres bordered by Maynooth to the north, Deseronto to the east, Prince Edward County to the south and Quinte West to the west.
