12 April 2008, Belleville, ON—The EarthCARE audit is an annual activity in which participating schools measure the effectiveness of the energy conservation, waste reduction, and water conservation initiatives that are part of the EarthCARE (EC) program. The audit report was developed to measure two areas:
- Quantitative measurements in the three areas of energy, water, and waste; and
- Qualitative assessments of the participation of the school occupants in EC activities.
The audit is to be completed between April 14 and April 18, 2008 and submitted on-line by April 21, 2008. The forms and instructions are online at http://www.earthcarecanada.com/

At The Power of One, the Spirit of Youth, Simon Jackson, founder of the Spirit Bear Coalition will discuss how individuals can have an impact important issues, such as global warming and conservation. He will speak about his own successful fight to save British Columbia’s endangered white Kermode, or Spirit Bear. Jackson has become a celebrity himself, as he was the subject of a recent made-for-TV movie, as well as a soon-to-be released Hollywood animated film.
