| 22 October 2007, Belleville, Ontario—Three Bayside Secondary students and their teacher will meet author J.K. Rowling at a book-promotion event in Toronto. They will be among 950 others at the Winter Garden Theatre for Rowling’s only Canadian stop on her North American tour to promote the final Harry Potter book.
Teacher-librarian Karen Morrow entered a contest through the White Pine Reading program. Bayside was selected and became eligible to send three students and a chaperone to see Rowling. A lottery was held at the school to determine the three lucky students.
“The students are really excited to meet J.K. Rowling,” remarks Morrow. “It is not everyday that they can interact with a world-famous author!”
Rowling will read excerpts from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows then answer questions from the audience. Following that, audience members will be invited onstage to receive an autographed copy of the book from Ms. Rowling.
