| 22 May 2007, Belleville, Ontario—Selected Grade 7 and 8 students throughout the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and area school boards will participate in SETUP, a hands-on event related to science, engineering and technology. This event is designed to address the growing need to educate all students about science and technology professions and skilled trades as viable career pathways.
SETUP (Science Engineering Technology Ultimate Pathways) gives students the opportunity to speak with and question community members from technology fields about the pathway they took to their career, through high school and beyond. Students will participate in one-day events in different areas of science and technology including: animation, transportation, construction, communication, biochemistry, manufacturing, hospitality and early childhood education. Students will pair off in teams of two and work through various challenges.
MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES are invited to attend and report on the event.
