Book launch for Undercurrents at Chapters
A book launch and unveiling ceremony to promote Undercurrents, a collection of creative writing by secondary students of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, is scheduled for next week.

Time: 6:30 to 8:45 p.m.

Location: Chapters Book Store, Quinte Mall, Belleville

Background
HPEDSB secondary school students were invited to participate in an innovative, real-life publishing opportunity through a partnership between HPEDSB and Essence Publishing. Under the guidance of a key teacher in each school, students submitted written work to an external editorial board for review. A final collection of works was selected for inclusion in the book.

The title, Undercurrents, was selected for this anthology because the collection of writing captures those elements of human existence that are often “currents below the surface,” and are expressed through a variety of genres that speak to the readers. This collection of creative writing is the result of the desire to showcase the richness and diversity of youth. Through their poetry, scripts and short stories, the writers have captured moments of inspiration and insight.

Family, friends, the community and members of the media are invited to join in the celebration. Students will be on-site for a book-signing.
