FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Moira
Secondary to host Canadian journalist Gwynne Dyer for International Baccalaureate
Programme
28 November 2005, Belleville, Ontario—World-renowned Canadian journalist
and historian Gwynne Dyer will be in Belleville on Tuesday, November 29, 2005
to address Moira Secondary students. Mr. Dyer will draw from his recent best-selling
books, Ignorant Armies (2003) and Future Tense (2004) as well
as their forthcoming companion, Fighting Decline.
Mr. Dyer’s talk is entitled The New Canada and the Globalization Shuffle. In both big cities and in rural areas, young people are aware that Canada is changing around them very fast and they are often alarmed by it. According to Dyer, these changes, far from harming the country or individuals’ own personal prospects, are improving the economy and the chances of Canada surviving as a united country.
Mr. Dyer’s worldwide experience and the globalization theme of his talk will mesh with the objectives of Moira Secondary’s enrichment and International Baccalaureate programmes.
