Citizens honoured for supporting student achievement

June 2006, Belleville, Ontario—Congratulations are in order for 10 Hastings
and Prince Edward citizens who support student achievement and help to make
the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board A Great Place to Learn
and A Great Place to Work!
5th Annual
Great Place Awards
The 5th Annual Great Place Awards were presented at this evening’s public
Board meeting. These prestigious awards recognize outstanding contributions
by students, staff, parents and guardians, and community partners. The Great
Place Awards are the highest form of recognition within the district.
The 2006 Great Place Award recipients
are:
• Emily Adams, Teacher, Frankford Public School
• Susanne Allin, Teacher, Pinecrest Memorial Elementary School
• Karen Coxwell, Secretary, Sir John A. Macdonald School
• Philip Kennedy, Volunteer, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute
• Brian Meindl, Teacher, Trenton High School
• Karen Morrow, Teacher, Bayside Secondary School
• Barry Norton, Principal, Sir Mackenzie Bowell Public School
• Joyce Nussey, Office Supervisor, Moira Secondary School
• Tara Reid, Educational Assistant, Trenton High School
• Ernie Tufts, Volunteer, S.H. Connor School
The Great Place Awards Committee received 26 nominations representing all eligible categories—students, employee groups, volunteers, parents and guardians, and community partners.

The Hastings and
Prince Edward District School Board has 46 elementary and eight secondary schools
serving 18,400 students, employing 1,070 teachers and 705 support staff. The
Board covers a wide geographical area of 7,221 square kilometres bordered by
Maynooth to the north, Deseronto to the east, Prince Edward County to the south,
and Quinte West to the west.
