Board ratifies four-year agreement for elementary teachers
June 6, 2005, Belleville, Ontario—At a Special Board Meeting this evening, the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board ratified a four-year agreement for its 624 elementary teachers. The agreement covers the period September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2008. The vote was unanimous by the Board.

The Board of Trustees was pleased to ratify and is awaiting results of the ratification vote by elementary teachers on Tuesday, June 7th.

The agreement reflects the key components of the provincial framework, and covers monetary and workload issues with special emphasis on the teacher preparation time issue.

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has 54 schools serving 18,400 students, employing 1,070 teachers and 705 support staff. The Board covers a wide geographical area of 7,221 square kilometres bordered by Maynooth to the north, Deseronto to the east, Prince Edward County to the south, and Quinte West to the west.
