Students
use technology to produce digital stories
Tomorrow, 20 students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 in the Prince Edward school group
will participate in a Digital Story-Telling Enrichment Workshop at Massassaga-Rednersville
Public School.
The day’s activities will teach highly-motivated students how to enhance their personal story writing through the use of information and communications technology using sound, images, video clips and voice-over narration. The students will use Windows Movie Maker software to meet language curriculum expectations in a fun and educational manner.
“This day will provide students, as storytellers, an opportunity to create a living artefact of their personal story through a unique and exciting mode,” says Suzanne Cholasta, Gifted Enrichment System Resource Support.
Students from the other seven school groups in the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board will also be involved in workshops to promote digital storytelling in the classroom. These workshops that integrate language and technology are planned from now to the end of the school year.
The Hastings and
Prince Edward District School Board has 54 schools serving 18,700 students,
employing 1,140 teachers and 770 support staff. The Board covers a wide geographical
area of 7,221 square kilometres bordered by Maynooth to the north, Deseronto
