Student safety and continuation of programs is board’s concern
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has been informed that the provincial office of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), as part of its province-wide approach, has directed the Board’s secondary school teachers to initiate a job action. The Board has received notification that its secondary school teachers will begin a work-to-rule effective 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26th.

“The Board is assessing the situation and reviewing the impact this job action will have on students. Once we have reviewed the situation, we will be in a better position to determine next steps. Ensuring both the safety of our students and the continuation of programs continue to be of the utmost importance to this Board," remarks Judy Edgar, Chair of the Board.

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has 54 schools, over 18,900 students, and covers a wide geographical area from Quinte West to the west, Maynooth to the north, Prince Edward County to the south, and Deseronto to the east.
