New contract for elementary teachers is in the works
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario are very pleased to announce that the parties have reached a tentative agreement with respect to a complete package covering the two-year period of 2002–2003 and 2003–2004. This is a further development from last week when the parties agreed on salary increases for 2002–2003 for the Board’s 697 elementary teachers.

Ratification votes by each party are anticipated for June 26, 2003, after which time the details of the new contract will be released.

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has 54 schools serving 18,900 students and employing 1,083 teachers. The Board covers a wide geographical area of 7,221 square kilometres bordered by Maynooth to the north, Deseronto to the east, Prince Edward County to the south, and Quinte West to the West.
