Public school board analyzing EQAO results
The Board and provincial results of the provincial assessments, which were administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) in the Spring of 2002, were made public today. The assessments included reading, writing and mathematics at Grades 3 and 6 and mathematics at Grade 9.

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board continues to be committed to providing a full and accurate reporting of our assessment results. The first step in that process is to share it with our students and parent communities.

Data relating to the Grades 3 and 6 assessments has been updated and revised and this “refreshed” data only became available on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Until that time the Board did not have data for all of its schools. The Board has yet to receive all of the Individual Student Reports for those students who participated in the testing and has, therefore, not been able to share results with students and their families. Further, the Board has not yet received the “Technical Paper” that EQAO is to provide to assist boards with interpreting the new marking process used for the first time this year.

Staff will be examining the updated data in light of the provincial results and the impact of changed test procedures and marking. The Board will be reporting results to students, parents and the community as soon as possible.
