Government provides $629,428 for texts
Today, the Ministry of Education
has reported that the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board
will receive an additional $629,428 to buy textbooks and technology-based
learning materials. The Premier announced the $65 million one-time investment
in education on April 17, 2002.
"We are very happy to see
this additional funding coming into our classrooms," said Judy Edgar, Chair
of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. "It's essential
that students have the books and resources to help them achieve their full
potential. This additional funding will enhance the learning opportunities
we already offer our students."
The Ministry has outlined
that the funding be used for the purchase of textbooks and learning resources
to support the implementation of the new Grade 12 curriculum, learning
resources to support students with special needs, as well as textbooks
and learning resources for other grades.
