Students to study at Queen's
Two hundred and thirteen
Grade 7 and 8 students from across the Hastings and Prince Edward District
School Board are heading off to study at Queen's University. The students
are taking part in Queen's University's annual Seven - Eight Enrichment
Day Studies (S.E.E.D.S.) from Tuesday, November 27 to Thursday, November
29.
S.E.E.D.S. is a special
three day program for highly motivated students hosted by Queen's University.
It challenges students to a higher level of learning where they can explore
new subject areas, experiment with new ideas and broaden their horizons
while experiencing a university setting. Students attend workshops in various
tracks of study - including mathematics, the arts, science & technology,
health and physical education, language arts, sociology, geography, and
history.
"Students will get an idea
about university life, they will participate in fun social activities,
they will make new friends and they will be stimulated to pursue new learning
opportunities," says Deirdre Gordon, Gifted and Enrichment Resource Teacher
for the Board.
