Loyalist and HPEDSB sign agreement
Today, the Hastings and Prince
Edward District School Board and Loyalist College of Applied Arts and Technology
signed an agreement that strengthens the ongoing partnership between the
two organizations.
"This agreement gives our
students access to information about continuing their education at Loyalist
College," said Audrey Carter, Chair of the Hastings and Prince Edward District
School Board. "We are pleased to formalize our commitment to providing
access to opportunities that will further the success of our students in
their post secondary education."
The agreement, called a Commitment to Access, includes five commitments:

Create opportunities for high school teachers to visit Loyalist College
and familiarize themselves with the programs of study and career opportunities
for college graduates;

Provide to students and parents, information on the costs of college education
and the sources of financial assistance available;

Encourage high school students to take advantage of the college's Student
for a Day program to familiarize themselves with college education and
careers;

Promote the college-university articulation programs at Loyalist College;

Provide timely information to teachers, administration and the members
of the District School Board on matters pertaining to Loyalist College
and college education.
"By providing teachers with
more information about college education and creating opportunities for
them to visit Loyalist College, our current partnership with educators
in the school system will be enhanced," said Loyalist President Douglas
Auld."We are confident that, with all of us working together, we will expand
the opportunities for students to attend Loyalist College."
The Commitment to Access
was signed by Audrey Carter, Chair, and Larry Langdon, Director of Education,
from the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, and Beverley
Townsend, Chair, and Douglas Auld, President, from Loyalist College at
the College's Board of Governors meeting, November 8, 2001.
