Great Place Award winners announced
At its Board Meeting on January
28, the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board presented its
first ever Great Place Awards. The Great Place Awards are designed to recognize
and reinforce outstanding contributions that make the Hastings and Prince
Edward District School Board a Great Place and represent the highest form
of recognition within the Board. Nominations were accepted for individuals
and groups from a cross-section of students, all employee groups, parents
and community members.
The selection committee
had the difficult task of selecting the winners of the first ever Great
Place Awards. Each winner has made significant contributions towards making
the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board a Great Place to both
learn and work. The winners are: Penny Gale a volunteer with Sophiasburgh
Central Public School; Frank Gielen, the School Council Chair at Bayside
Public School; Catherine Glover, Principal at Centennial Secondary School;
Carole Mallon, an Educational Assistant at Centre Hastings Secondary School;
Ruth Sager, a volunteer with Deseronto Public School; and the Grade 7 teaching
team of Leonora Aucoin, Julie Barnes, Christian Derasp, Christine Varga,
and Vickie Williams at Bayside Public School.
