Aiming for the Top
Students from the Hastings
and Prince Edward District School Board aren't just "aiming for the top"
they're there. Seventy-seven graduates from HPEDSB schools have won the
province's new Aiming for the Top Tuition Scholarships.
Aiming for the Top was introduced
by the Ontario government last year, to reward students who graduate with
top marks from their high school, and who plan to continue their studies
at an Ontario college or university. Students who maintain an 80 percent
average at the post secondary level can receive these scholarships, which
are worth up to a maximum of $3,500 per year, for up to four years in total.
"We are very proud of the
accomplishments of these students," said Audrey Carter, Chair of the Hastings
and Prince Edward District School Board. "We also wish them well as they
go on with their post secondary education. They will be building on wonderful
learning programs and opportunities that they received from schools in
the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board."
