C.H.S.S. opens new
Learning Resource Centre

        Learning at Centre Hastings Secondary School has a new look. On Monday, November 26, Trustees of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board met in the newly renovated Learning Resource Centre and Gallery.
        The Learning Resource Centre and Gallery features 15 new computers, Winnebago for researching on-line, two new seminar rooms for smaller groups, as well as new carpeting furniture and circulation desk.
        "The Resource Centre has become an important centre for learning in the school.," said Christine Walker, Principal, at C.H.S.S. "The students and staff are making  good use of the new facility and the excellent learning opportunities it offers."
        The ribbon was cut by Audrey Carter, Chair of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, Principal Christine Walker, and Sheila Berry, Teacher-Librarian at C.H.S.S., to officially open the new facility. The celebration presentation included a dramatic presentation of "Who's on First" by students Ace Piton and Victor Cooper, directed by drama teacher Kim Coulson; the senior music class playing Jump, Jive 'n' Wail, Southern Cross, and Mr. Papi, directed by music teacher Shelley MacKenzie-Coates; the launch of the new C.H.S.S. website by students Jesse Smith and Michael Mezzatesta; and a gallery of artwork by C.H.S.S. art classes.
        Special thanks were extended to Wayne Musclow, Plant Maintenance Manager, Brian Treanor of the C.H.S.S. Technology Department, the Library Renovation Committee, the School Improvement Team at C.H.S.S., the Friends of Centre Hastings, and the C.H.S.S. custodians for their contributions and commitment to the Learning Resource Centre and Gallery project at Centre Hastings Secondary School.
        Guests at the ceremony also included Ron Fabian, Chair of the School Council, and other School Council members, members of the Friends of Centre Hastings, former Librarians and Teachers, as well as parents students and members of the community.
